PAP Exhibits “KutKot: Cut Above the Rest” at the Yellow Door Gallery
Printmaking in the Philippines has come a long way, but not without the significant role of the Philippine Association of Printmakers, the prime mover of the art form in the country. With its almost forty years of existence, the association has faithfully promoted the fine art medium of printmaking as a major form of expression. It has produced from its ranks respected artists who gave serious attention to the medium and continue to train young promising printmakers. In the recent years, with the assistance of the NCCA, they traveled across the country covering more than twenty venues to conduct lectures, demos and workshops in the different techniques, bringing with them a collection of prints for exhibition.
Today the PAP continues to bring art to the people in their latest project, “KutKot : Cut Above the Rest,” an exhibition of fine prints and an afternoon lecture-demo presented by Yellow Door Gallery at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati. The exhibition which runs from April 16-26, 2007, features new works by PAP members and selected works culled from the association’s collection. Among the works are etchings by three National Artists – Arturo Luz, Jerry Elizalde Navarro and Bencab, and fine prints in varied techniques by Virgilio Aviado, Fil Delacruz, Raul Isidro, Rod Paras-Perez, Juvenal Sanso, Benjie Torrado Cabrera, Jess Flores, Ambie Abano, Rhoda Recto, Christopher Bayani, Janos Delacruz, Bernard Temporosa, Mimsy Sermonia, Camille Dela Rosa, Reynaldo Concepcion, Noell EL Farol, Neil Doloricon, Manny Baldemor, Mario Parial, Evelyn Collantes, Jose Delima, Ojeng Jocano, Butch Payawal, Charito Bitanga, Susan Fetalvero Roces, Roger San Miguel, Heber Bartolome, and Phyllis Zaballero.
The lecture-demo on intaglio process slated for April 22, Sunday, at 2:00 in the afternoon is hoped to enlighten the general public on the many qualities and benefits that fine prints have to offer.
Opening cocktails is at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 16, 2007. For inquiries and to confirm attendance at the lecture-demo, please call 0920.962.43.47 or email k.rocha@yellowdoorgallery.net.
